Ruff Stuff inaugurates his new Sculptures imprint with ‘The Faster Buster’ EP, comprising four originals from the Berlin-based artist.

Sculptures Records is the new label from Ruff Stuff, a new platform designed to
showcase material from predominantly up and coming artists who use physical machines to craft and sculpt their music, using their hands and real tools to create unique pieces of art.
This stands as the ethos for Sculptures and its output moving forward, which will aesthetically lean towards house and deep house sounds with forays into electro.

The label-head Ruff Stuff steps up first to inaugurate things here and leads the release with ‘Give Me A Break’, employing organic drums and dubbed out stabs at its core before the latter half of the composition introduces a rave-tinged disorienting synth hook.

Title-cut ‘Faster Buster’ follows next, this time round employing swirling pads, bumpy drums and gritty stab sequences as it’s core alongside hypnotic vocal chants and squelching 303 bass notes.

‘Bunker Mood’ opens the flip side, fuelled by dusty drums and a snaking bass groove while an amalgamation of airy chords, tension building strings and vocal samples carry the groove.

‘Rules Breaker’ then closes the package with a contrasting feel, bringing a choppy square wave bass line and resonant synth licks to the forefront alongside off- kilter, skippy drums and ethereal pads ebbing and flowing within.
